Crowns

Dental-Crown
Over time, teeth can become weak or severely worn down, leading to decay, cracking, and breaking. This can cause not only pain, but also embarrassment. We can restore your teeth to the right size, shape, and strength, alleviating your discomfort in the process. Natural-looking, custom-made concealments called crowns can be fit to your damaged teeth, hiding the flaws while returning your smile to its natural state.

Dental crowns offer permanent and protective solutions for damaged teeth. They can be made out of a variety of materials, such as gold and acrylic resin; however, the natural look of porcelain makes it the preferred material for most crowns. The process of creating and fitting a crown takes place over two to three visits. We first remove any decay, then we sculpt the damaged tooth, prepare it to be fitted, and make an impression of your teeth from which to create the custom crown. When the crown is completed, we place it onto the permanent tooth, ensure the fit and look are correct, and cement it in place.

The entire process, from beginning to completion, can span two to three weeks. At Smith & Wetterhus Dentistry, we understand that amount of time may be too long to endure damaged-looking teeth, so we fit you with a temporary crown at the first visit, allowing you to look your best from the moment you leave our office. Once fitted with your permanent crown, you will see that it was worth the wait. When crafted carefully and with your individual needs in mind, a permanent crown can restore your confidence, comfort, and overall quality of life.

FAQ

How much do crowns cost
The cost of a dental crown varies according to the size, location, and material it is made out of. We offer a wide variety of payment and financing options to ensure that patients in need of a crown can afford one. Call to set up a consultation and receive an estimate of what your personalized treatment will cost.
Are crowns temporary?
A high-quality crown can last 10 to 20 years if properly cared for. However, if it isn’t brushed and flossed regularly, it can fracture, and the supporting tooth can still get cavities.
Is the procedure painful?
At At Smith & Wetterhus Dentistry, our priority is to deliver gentle, compassionate care. This commitment, combined with our sedation options, ensures that receiving a crown is a comfortable experience. For information on our comfort dentistry methods, click here
